Planning Engineer - Joinery Factory Experience
The Planning Engineer serves as a vital link between the technical design team, manufacturing operations, and on-site installation teams. Their primary objective is to develop and manage a master production plan that aligns with contractual obligations, monitor internal project progress, ensure woodworking products—such as doors, furniture, and interior fit-outs—are manufactured and delivered according to schedules, assist in resource allocation for each project phase, and generate weekly and monthly reports to identify potential delays early, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction.
Core Responsibilities
- Production Scheduling: Developing detailed initial and revised timelines for factory operations using tools like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Material Planning: Preparing Bills of Materials (BOM) and coordinating with procurement to ensure timely availability of wood, hardware, and finishes.
- Coordination: Acting as the intermediary between the design team (handling drawings), factory floor (overseeing fabrication), and site teams (managing installation) to resolve delays or technical issues.
- Progress Monitoring: Tracking daily and weekly production outputs, identifying bottlenecks, and creating recovery plans for projects that fall behind schedule.
- Reporting: Producing regular progress reports for stakeholders, highlighting milestones, resource utilization, and anticipated risks.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Primavera P6, AutoCAD (for reviewing shop drawings), and Excel.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of joinery production processes, carpentry techniques, and materials (e.g., MDF, solid wood, veneers).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil, , or Architectural Engineering.
- Certifications: Preferred PMP (Project Management Professional) or PSP (Planning and Scheduling Professional).
