Planning Engineer - Transformers Unit

Job Overview :

The Planning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of transformer manufacturing, installation, and commissioning projects. The individual will ensure the projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They will collaborate with various engineering and operational teams to streamline project timelines, optimize resources, and manage risks.


Key Responsibilities :


  • Develop, implement, and maintain detailed project schedules for transformer manufacturing and installation projects.
  • Define project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables in collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
  • Monitor and track progress against project timelines and report on delays, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Plan and allocate resources (personnel, equipment, materials) efficiently for transformer manufacturing and site installation.
  • Identify potential resource conflicts and resolve them proactively.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials required for production.
  • Identify potential project risks (technical, scheduling, or resource-based) and develop mitigation plans.
  • Continuously assess the impact of project changes and develop risk strategies to address them.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure they remain within the allocated budget.
  • Collaborate with finance and procurement to ensure timely approval of project-related expenditures.
  • Act as the main point of contact for project schedules and timelines.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the project manager and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports, schedule forecasts, and resource utilization reports.
  • Maintain proper documentation of planning activities, including schedule changes, delays, and other critical information.
  • Ensure that transformer manufacturing and installation activities adhere to quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Ensure that health, safety, and environmental regulations are followed at all stages of the project.
  • Contribute to the final project handover, ensuring all project deliverables are completed and handed over to the client.
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation (e.g., as-built schedules, reports) is finalized.


Qualifications and Skills :


  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience :
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in project planning, ideally within the transformer, electrical, or manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.


Skills :

  • Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems related to project timelines and resources.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety protocols, and compliance requirements related to transformer manufacturing and installation.
