Job Description:
This is professional services work in planning and research related to sustainable safety data-driven systems designed to collect data to identify opportunities to integrate health and safety into all aspects of MaineDOT. The position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and presenting safety data and facts that provide relevant information and required influence regarding the development of safety policies, programs, and strategic initiatives aimed at ensuring the health and safety of MaineDOT employees. The role combines research and planning functions with data collection and administration to support an available, one-stop safety information hub for MaineDOT. Work is performed under limited supervision, requiring initiative, analytical expertise, and collaboration. This position reports to the Director of Occupational Health and Safety
Representative Tasks:
Collects, maintains, analyzes, organizes, and reports safety data using the Microsoft Power Platform ensuring data compliance, transparency, and accessibility to identify opportunities for continuous safety improvement. Provides clear and meaningful analysis of safety performance results and key metrics leading to the prediction of incidents and data driven decision making. Collaborates with the Occupational Safety Team to align safety plans and drive consistency throughout MaineDOT. Provides training and technical support related to the safety data collection tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of practices and procedures used to collect, organize, and analyze health and safety related data and facts. Knowledge of research methods. Knowledge of OSHA and BLS. Knowledge of the use of graphics, charts, and other illustrative tools. Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and the use and development of SharePoint sites. Experience using the Microsoft Power Platform. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
A six (6) year combination of education, training, and/or experience providing a knowledge of the principles of research and planning.
