- Answer calls for service and handle emergency incidents across the facility under established departmental protocols.
- Operate fire apparatus and related equipment; support hazardous materials response when required.
- Inspect, test, and maintain fire extinguishers and fire protection systems to ensure readiness.
- When assigned, perform a security function and drive a department-issued response vehicle.
- Investigate incidents and write accurate, concise reports capturing facts and follow-up actions.
- Keep current all certifications necessary to protect employees and company assets (basic EMS, firefighting, HazMat).
- Rotating 12-hour shifts; some Saturdays and Sundays are part of the schedule.
- Heavy industrial environment that can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.
- Coverage across multiple operational areas within the Granite City Works facility.
- High School Diploma or GED, plus a valid driver’s license.
- State or National Licensed basic EMT.
- Certified Firefighter I (or equivalent).
- Calm performance under stress and strong decision-making in emergencies.
- Ability to conduct investigations and produce clear written reports.

- Level 2 - $2,498.35
- Level 3 - $2,747.18
This base salary range is a good faith estimate. Depending on your skills and experience, the final offer may be lower or higher.
