General Function:
Highly skilled mechanical work involving the inspection, maintenance, and repair of power generation equipment including, dual fuel reciprocating engines, generators, compressors, pumps, valves, piping, and other related equipment. Work requires advanced knowledge of the proper care and repair of electrical generation equipment and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems. This is a leadership position in which the employee is required to lead, direct and oversee other employees on major maintenance projects.
Work is performed under general supervision and is given considerable independence in the performance of routine repair and maintenance activities. Work is reviewed during progress and upon completion by the supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnoses operational and mechanical problems of generation equipment; initiates corrective action according to accepted divisional procedures.

Performs routine inspections of generation equipment; determines repair and replacement requirements.

Performs maintenance and repair activities on large diesel engines such as generators, split case horizontal and vertical pumps, and related equipment; completes related work as required.

Assumes the duties of lead man on major overhauls of equipment. Trains and instructs lower-level employees as assigned by the supervisor.

Takes close tolerance measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.

Fabricates or repairs parts and equipment to close tolerances using various machine tools.

Completes repairs to structures, equipment, and piping using welding and cutting equipment where it is necessary to make welds in all positions, i.e., horizontal, vertical, overhead.

Performs general plant building maintenance, such as plumbing, carpentry work, painting, and other facility repairs.

Ensures the performance of routine maintenance tasks to assigned equipment.

Completes daily reports of work performed, problems encountered and parts and supplies used according to accepted divisional accounting practices and requirements.

Safely operates repair tools and equipment; grinders, drill press, forklift, taps and dies, etc.

Responsible for the maintenance and safety of assigned equipment and tools.

Subject to be called to work in an emergency.

Performs other job-related duties as required by supervisor.

Type of Appointment/Work hours:-
Full-time/Regular in-person position.

Standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day. The work day may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.

Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Will be required to work occasional overtime or shift assignments, if applicable.
