Plant Performance & Emissions Analyst

Opportunity Overview

Handshake is looking for experienced thermal power plant performance and emissions compliance professionals to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job — you'll draw on your hands-on expertise in plant performance analysis, emissions monitoring, and GHG reporting to produce expert-level data and analytical outputs that help build AI training environments for the energy industry.

This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current work.

What You'll Do

  • Apply your professional expertise to independently produce real analytical work outputs — such as heat rate efficiency analyses, EPA emissions monitoring reports, and GHG inventory documentation — in a structured, project-based format
  • Use tools like AVEVA PI and ArcGIS to complete tasks the way you would in your day-to-day role
  • Deliver expert-level work that forms the foundation of AI training datasets for energy industry applications
  • Complete tasks at your own pace with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience in thermal power plant performance or emissions compliance, in a role such as:
    • Plant Performance Engineer or Thermal Performance / Heat Rate Engineer
    • Air Quality / Emissions Compliance Specialist
    • GHG / Sustainability Reporting Analyst
  • Ability to independently produce work using:
    • AVEVA PI
    • ArcGIS
  • Hands-on experience with workflows such as heat rate efficiency analysis, EPA continuous emissions monitoring reporting, and GHG emissions inventory and annual reporting
  • Bachelor's degree or higher required
  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
