Plant Worker (Mechanical Technician)

About the Role
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of plant machinery (mixers, conveyors, pumps, etc.)
- Diagnose faults and repair or replace mechanical components (bearings, belts, seals, etc.
- Carry out fabrication work including welding, cutting, and grinding
- Assist in installation, alignment, and modification of equipment
- Conduct routine inspections to identify leaks, vibrations, or abnormal conditions
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, especially for hot work activities
- Maintain basic maintenance records and report breakdowns
- Support production team during breakdowns and urgent maintenance needs
Your Skills and Experience
- Minimum Matric/FSc, candidates with DAE Mechanical will be preferred
- 1-2 years of relevant experience preferably in an industrial setup
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and plant machinery
- Hands-on skills in welding (arc, gas, MIG/TIG) and gas cutting
- Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance practices
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, and spare parts used in maintenance
- Understanding of safety procedures, especially hot work and permit-to-work systems
- Basic knowledge of alignment, fitting, and fabrication techniques
- Ability to use measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, etc.)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic documentation and reporting skills
