Platform Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Expertise: Serve as an Analyst Programmer on the AS/400 platform, using COBOL, RPG, and CL to support, enhance, and maintain legacy business-critical systems.
• System Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Ensure the reliability and stability of existing systems through proactive maintenance and timely resolution of technical issues.
• Operational Support: Provide day-to-day application support to ensure smooth business operations, resolving user-reported issues and minimizing system downtime.
• Business Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements for small to mid-sized enhancements. Translate business needs into functional specifications and detailed documentation.
• Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor members of the IT support team. Foster a collaborative environment focused on efficient problem-solving and knowledge sharing.
• Documentation & Process Improvement: Design, review, and maintain technical and functional documentation for system enhancements, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years proven experience with AS/400 platforms and programming languages such as COBOL, RPG and CL.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities.
• Strong background in legacy systems maintenance and operations support.
