Plating Operator I (day shift)

JOB SCOPE

Responsible for the operation of some production and test equipment in the Plating Department. This position is responsible for performing recurring tasks with occasional variations, generally involving a low degree of complexity in the Plating department. Duties are executed in accordance with established procedures, guidelines and specific instructions, under the direction and support of Plating Leads, the Plating Production Engineer, and/or the Supervisor.

Errors or deviations from established processes may result in adverse impacts to production operations, equipment integrity, or workplace safety.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Operates production and test equipment, with assistance.

2. Monitors and recommends improvements to the area as needed.

3. Complies with Company and area safety policies and practices.

4. Maintains accurate production records and equipment operation records.

5. Performs tests and measurements on parts, with some assistance, to ensure product quality.

6. Interfaces with quality assurance to ensure product quality.

7. Assists in picking, transporting and exchanging materials, supplies and parts.

8. Inspects production equipment daily.

9. Supports and fosters active participation in, and complies with, corporate values as outlined in the Corporate Values and Expectations Handbook.

10. Completes on-the-job and specialized training as required.

11. Handles hazardous materials and samples.

12. Ensures the safe transport of hazardous materials and gas cylinders.

13. Operates basic hand and power tools.

14. Awareness of job related environmental impacts.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

1. Ability to perform basic math.

2. Demonstrated proficiency with basic calculator.

3. Legible handwriting.

4. Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English.

5. Ability to read blueprints.

6. Previous hazardous chemical handling experience.

7. An understanding of basic statistical concepts

COMPETENCIES

1. Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions in English.

2. Ability to do simple multi-tasking while meeting out-put requirements.

3. Ability to understand quality standards to identify quality problems/issues while following procedures.

4. Ability to comply with EMS and safety regulations.

5. Ability to understand basic Plating industry standards.

6. Ability to recognize common Plating defects.

7. Working understanding of ISO9001/ IATF16949/ ISO14001 and VDA 6.3.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

1. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

2. Must be able to move throughout the working environment as needed to perform job duties during the shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.

3. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during the shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.

4. Must be able to effectively perform tasks requiring visual acuity, including distinguishing details and variations in color, with or without reasonable accommodation.
