Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Plumber or Gas Engineer to join our family business in Stafford. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in both commercial and residential settings. This role requires a strong understanding of plumbing principles, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently with various tools and materials. The ideal applicant will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, physical stamina for heavy lifting, and a commitment to safety standards.

Duties

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and carpentry skills to complete tasks accurately.
  • Conduct inspections of plumbing systems to identify faults or potential issues.
  • Measure and cut pipes accurately using appropriate tools; assemble components securely.
  • Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment as required for installation or repairs.
  • Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot complex plumbing problems efficiently.
  • Follow safety protocols during all phases of work to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with the assembly of plumbing components in various settings.
  • Operate commercial vehicles for transportation of tools or materials when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in plumbing installation and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with welding, hand tools, power tools, and basic carpentry techniques.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge related to plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively.
  • Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Valid driving licence suitable for operating commercial vehicles or lorries preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations relevant to plumbing work.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Candidates should be physically fit, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team. A recognised qualification in plumbing or a related trade is desirable but not essential if extensive relevant experience is demonstrated.

Contract length: 3 months

Pay: £27,472.50-£41,501.11 per year

Expected hours: 8 – 45 per week
