Job Description:
This position has responsibility to the Facility Administrator/Operations Officer and Intermountain Laboratory Shared Services and reports directly to the Lab QA and IPC Director. Quality Manager works in partnership with laboratory leadership and other facility management and departments to ensure the provision of optimal patient care, attainment of financial goals, and development of caregivers.

Essential Functions:
-
Manages the operations of the QA and Education teams, including issue resolution, collaborative problem-solving, addressing performance gaps, team/leader development, etc.

Identifies that IH laboratories are in compliance with safety initiatives, federal, state and other regulatory bodies including but not limited to CLIA, CAP, JC, OSHA, CMS, through audits and reporting.

Identifies capital and operations budget needs in partnership with the Lab QA & IPC Director and Finance Analyst and is accountable to successfully manage laboratory resources and assets.

Coordinates self-inspections and ongoing quality audits throughout the system and ensures participation in appropriate proficiency testing, results evaluation, cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Develops and oversees the clinical laboratory safety program, coordinates evaluation of safety incidents, and ensures ongoing assessment of the safety program's effectiveness

Oversees project development and maintenance of quality programs used throughout the system (e.g. Task Manager, MediaLab, LabNet, etc.).

Oversees SOP development, standardization and implementation, and document control program.

Responsible for all human resource functions including sufficient staffing, hiring, orientation, appropriate training, annual competency assessment of caregivers and performance management.

Promotes the use of continuous improvement philosophies to ensure the delivery of quality care.

Creates and models a culture where caregivers are professional, engaged, valued and recognized and rounds regularly on laboratory caregivers.

Minimum Qualifications:
-
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Current MLT/MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent
-
Three years’ experience in a leadership role
-
Five years laboratory quality assurance experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in an applicable field obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.

May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.

For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

$50.97 - $78.69
