Podiatry Medical Assistant

Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Podiatry Medical Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in supporting podiatrists and enhancing patient care within a fast-paced clinical environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine clinical expertise with compassionate patient service, ensuring smooth operations and optimal treatment outcomes. As a key member of our outpatient podiatry practice, you will be responsible for assisting with patient intake, performing clinical procedures, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will contribute to delivering exceptional foot and ankle care in a supportive setting.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with patient intake processes including collecting medical histories and updating records
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to support diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Prepare examination rooms and assist podiatrists during clinical procedures, including wound care, nail debridement, and minor surgical interventions
  • Operate EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems efficiently to document patient encounters accurately and ensure seamless record keeping
  • Support diagnostic procedures such as X-ray imaging or other imaging modalities used in podiatric assessments
  • Assist with medication administration under supervision, including topical treatments or injections as directed by the physician
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of clinical equipment while adhering to infection control protocols

Requirements

  • Proven experience in outpatient clinical settings, preferably within podiatry, dermatology, hospital medicine, or urgent care environments
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy (especially lower extremities), physiology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and basic life support certification
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support tasks such as scheduling and patient follow-up
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse patient populations
  • Ability to perform clinical duties including taking vital signs, assisting with intake procedures, and supporting emergency medicine protocols when necessary
  • Experience with X-ray operation or imaging techniques is highly desirable; OR experience or hospital experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures and familiarity with inpatient or outpatient care workflows in medical-surgical or geriatrics settings is advantageous
