The
Southern University Police Department

Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training is required.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties:
Job Duties and Other Information
As a Police Officer, You Will Support a Safe Enviroment Through Proactive Patrol, Emergency Response, And Law Enforcemnet. In This Role, You Will:

Provides foot or mobile security patrol and enforces parking regulations across five campus sites and an apartment complex.

Responds to emergencies and provide assistance as required through radio dispatch.

Maintains logs of radio, telephone, and teletype activity, and monitor alarm systems and other police radio frequencies.

Prepare daily activity reports and vehicle logs.
-
Provide security for campus-wide events and activities.

Compensation:
The Police Officer 1 offers a entrance rate of $35,000 annually. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
