Description

The purpose of this position is purchase police department equipment and supplies for the City of Spartanburg and is responsible for purchasing activities and payment processing.

Examples of Duties

  • Assists with ordering vehicles, uniforms and supplies for the police department.
  • Collects, assembles, reviews and approves all invoices for payment; receives goods and services into inventory system.
  • Maintains database for tracking, analyzes and researches discrepancies.
  • Returns damages or incorrect items and solicits written quotes.
  • Researches and determines best value for equipment, parts and supplies purchased for the police department.
  • Researches and orders new and existing stock for the police department.
  • Assigns code numbers and tracks inventory; analyzes and reconciles inventories.
  • Reviews and analyzes blanket purchase agreements; generates new agreements as required.
  • Collaborates with staff or vendors for equipment or supplies needed.
  • Ensures purchasing activities compliance with local, state, and federal procurement laws and regulations.
  • Reconciles police department expenses.
  • Coordinates and approves new purchases, purchase requisitions and invoices.
  • Analyzes information, updates, and creates spreadsheets for departments.
  • Prepares various files, records, and documents.
  • Receives and handles complaints from members of the public, providing assistance, information, and solutions as needed. Performs related work as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency.
  • Four (4) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Supplemental Information

Pay depending on experience and qualifications. Starting salary is $44,012.80.
