Department Summary:
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jia-Ray Yu in the Department of Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine. The main research focus in Dr. Yu’s laboratory is to elucidate 1) the role of the chaperone and co-chaperone protein system in sustaining oncogenic protein stability and oncogenesis and 2) biology of epoxy lipids and its role in inflammatory disease and carcinogenesis. Dr. Yang is seeking a postdoctoral associate to complete studies on these funded NIH grants to characterize the role of mutant oncogenic protein in hijacking this co-chaperone protein system to sustain their role in driving the development of cancer.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements for this position are a Ph.D. in anatomical pathology, clinical pathology and molecular pathology related field(s).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Working knowledge of cell biology, pathobiology, pharmacology, and general laboratory skills.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to perform sterile technique.
  • Experience with cell biology, pathobiology, pharmacology.
  • DNA extraction, dilution, and amplification skills and genetic engineering and molecular/protein biology skill.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Sense of responsibility and respect for study participants and data confidentiality.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
