POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
New York University Tandon School of Engineering

The NYU Nanolab at New York University Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Associate to work in quantum information science and engineering, with a focus on superconducting and superconductor–semiconductor hybrid quantum devices.

New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and NYU Nanolab host a growing interdisciplinary research program in superconducting and semiconductor-based quantum technologies, with strong ties to national laboratories and industry partners.

Responsibilities
Candidates will be responsible for conducting experimental research in superconducting quantum hardware and quantum materials, contributing to sponsored research projects in quantum information science and engineering. Responsibilities include nanofabrication, materials synthesis, cryogenic transport and microwave characterization of quantum devices, data analysis, and dissemination of results through publications and presentations.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in experimental quantum materials, superconductivity, or semiconductor device physics, as evidenced by a strong publication record. Previous experience in superconducting devices, cryogenic measurements, or microwave characterization is necessary.

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to one or more of the following research directions:

1. Superconductor–semiconductor hybrid quantum devices
2. Superconducting quantum circuits

Salary range
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.

Required qualifications include:
  • Strong experimental background in superconductivity, quantum transport, semiconductor device physics, or cryogenic measurements
  • Experience in at least one of the following: superconducting device fabrication, cryogenic transport measurements, or RF/microwave measurements
Preferred qualifications include:

  • Cleanroom nanofabrication experience (e-beam lithography, UHV thin-film deposition, dry/wet etching, materials and surface metrologies)
  • Experience operating dilution refrigerators
  • Expertise in superconducting microwave circuit design and measurement

Application Instructions

Applicants should submit, as one pdf, the following information:
  • an up-to-date CV that includes a complete list of publications,
  • a research statement that describes their interest and goals and how their research relates to this position,
  • copies of up to three representative scientific papers,
  • names and contact information for three references.
All application materials should be submitted electronically via Interfolio and to davood@nyu.edu

Review of applications will begin as soon as possible and will continue until the position is filled. Expected start date is open.
