Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Doctoral degree in chemistry, materials science, physics, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and research experience. Prior experience conducting independent experimental research is required.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments, analyze complex data sets, and interpret physical measurements. Experience with vacuum-based systems, surface or solid-state characterization, and scientific computing is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Equipment Utilized

Ultra-high vacuum instrumentation, surface characterization systems, optical and electronic measurement tools, data acquisition hardware, and standard laboratory equipment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed in a laboratory setting and may involve standing for extended periods, handling laboratory equipment, and working with vacuum systems and cryogenic or high-temperature components. Overview

The individual will conduct experimental research, maintain and optimize specialized instrumentation, and contribute to data analysis, documentation, and dissemination of research results in a collaborative academic environment.
