PRIMARY FUNCTION:
As a team member of the melanoma translational research laboratory, contribute quality research outputs to our projects.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently read, analyze, and interpret experimental data ontanied using imaging devices.
  • Independently develop and refine scientific hypotheses related to ongoing research.
  • Design and execute experiments to test research hypotheses.
  • Conduct and oversee experimental procedures, delegating tasks as appropriate. Prior experience with surgical techniques is preferred.
  • Design and organize databases aligned with project frameworks to support research management, including monitoring and evaluating project inputs, activities and outcomes, and integrating these data with other repositories as needed.
  • Collect, organize and prepare data for oral and written presentations.
  • Preparecomprehensive research reports, including abstracts, manuscripts, grant proposals, data summaries, and presentation materials for national and international meetings.
  • Performs both routine and complex experimental procedures, analyze results, and present findings in the form of manuscripts, presentations and grant applications.
  • Maintain professional and collaborative interactions with colleagues, visitors, and other staff in accordance with the University’s core values.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Direct small research projects and perform portions from collaborative research interests, initiativing independent contribution to project goals
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals for funded research
  • Responsible for performing research activities on one or more specific areas of research requiring application of research practices to cases not previously covered
  • Implement established standards and procedures in pursuit of research project objectives
  • Design and coordinate the application of appropriate research methods and techniques
  • Participate in the planning, organizing, coordinating and control of research projects
  • Within established parameters, revise and/or develop new procedures
  • Responsible for the accurate control and recording of experimental variables being investigated
  • Provide direction, training, and supervision of students and others researcher if required
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Know policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties. Uses sound judgment and is aware of potential hazards before taking action. Promptly reports errors/events or situations of actual or potential harm. Understands emergency procedures and can demonstrate appropriate response

Co-workers and colleagues in medical oncology, researchers in other departmental labs, core facilities administrative contacts and scientific companies as required

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :

Doctoral Degree MD or Ph.D.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

Previous laboratory experience is required, especially animal experiments.
