Job Status: Full Time

Direct Supervisor: Project Manager

Position Summary:

A unique postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated chemist or materials scientist to lead a pioneering project at the intersection of Natural Products Chemistry and Functional Materials. This research aims to explore and design novel cellulose-based composite materials for the controlled release of bioactive and functional natural compounds. The project is funded and supported by state-of-the-art analytical facilities.

Responsibilities:

The Postdoctoral Fellow's research will focus on the following core areas:

  • Natural Products Chemistry: Isolate, purify, and structurally characterize bioactive natural organic compounds from plant sources using advanced chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR, TGA, DSC, SEM).
  • Cellulose Material Science: Engineer and functionalize natural/synthetic cellulose matrices to develop novel material formats (e.g., porous microspheres, composite films) for enhanced performance.
  • Composite Material Fabrication & Testing: Design and fabricate composite systems by integrating natural compounds into cellulose matrices. Evaluate their functional performance, with a focus on controlled release behavior and stability.
  • Data Analysis & Dissemination: Analyze complex data to establish structure-property relationships. Communicate findings through high-quality publications and presentations.

Qualifications:

· A Ph.D. (received within the last 2 years or expected soon) in Natural Products Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.

· Strong hands-on experience in the isolation and structural elucidation of natural organic compounds.

· Demonstrated laboratory research experience working with cellulose or other polysaccharides.

· High level of independence, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
