Job Description:


GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The position works as part of a team within the Nondestructive Solutions Development department responsible for executing nondestructive engineering solutions. The intern will support the team by performing application development studies, reducing and analyzing test data, writing and effectively communicating results, and revealing material-based conclusions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform application development activities using advanced ultrasonic spectroscopy methods.
  • Apply engineering concepts, theories, and practices in creative and innovative ways.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of nondestructive evaluation discipline through engineering literature and state of technology in the field.
  • Use engineering principles and judgment to identify strengths and weaknesses of varying nondestructive methods for specific applications.
  • Analyze and interpret signals and waveforms.
  • Write, review and edit technical papers suitable for publication.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • U. S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong aptitude in logic and math in addition to having the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a dynamic, highly technical environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctorate degree in Mechanical or applicable engineering discipline.
  • Experience with nondestructive evaluation methods.

TRAVEL

Moderate domestic travel required.
