Summary

The Dileep Laboratory at the Huffington Center on Aging, Baylor College of Medicine investigates the genomic and epigenomic drivers of brain aging and age-related neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. A particular interest is in the role of DNA damage in neurological dysfunction, including drug and radiation-induced DNA damage in cancer treatment. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with training in the area of chromatin biology and/or neuroscience to investigate chromatin regulation in brain aging and neurological dysfunction. Experience with computational analysis of NGS sequencing data and/or experience with mouse models is a plus.

Job Duties

Under the general direction of the PI:

  • Design, plan, and conduct research experiments using a suite of omics techniques, cellular and animal models, and molecular biology techniques.
  • Evaluate and analyze data generated from experiments.
  • Conduct literature search and summarize information in an appropriate format.
  • Disseminate research findings by presenting in seminars and conferences.
  • Compose and edit manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Engage in collaborations based on lab's research interests and expertise.
  • Train and supervise junior lab members.

Specific types of experiments include, but not limited to:

  • Mammalian cell culture and genetic manipulations.
  • Mouse husbandry, primary tissue culture, tissue dissection.
  • DNA, RNA, protein and chromatin extraction, western blotting.
  • Genomics and epigenomics assays (Hi-C, RNA-seq, etc) and sequencing library preparation.
  • Fluorescence microscopy.
  • Computation analysis and coding encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in any biomedical sciences field.
