About this Position

Applications are invited for a DOE-supported postdoctoral position to study the assembly and function of photosynthetic complexes. The work combines state-of-the-art molecular genetic, biochemical, and biophysical approaches to clarify basic photosynthetic mechanisms using a cyanobacterial model organism that is amenable to genetic engineering to test basic photosynthetic mechanisms at the cellular and molecular level.

The successful candidate will join a small, dynamic research group with strengths in molecular genetics, genetic transformation, and biochemistry. The P.I. is dedicated to providing laboratory members with a nurturing training environment. Training will be provided in areas of photosynthetic physiology analysis using techniques such as chlorophyll fluorescence and polarography to characterize genetic constructs. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Plant Biology, or a related field and a strong background in molecular biology and/or protein biochemistry. The ideal candidate is expected to be highly motivated and hard-working. Creative individuals having potential to perform independent published research will be given preference.

This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal, based on performance and the availability of funding. Full review applications begin Oct 31, 2025. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
