The successful applicant will collaborate on research projects with current faculty and may also pursue their own independent research or scholarly interests. Available research resources at the University of Arizona include microCT, PET, and MR 3D imaging, histology processing facilities, a Nikon Center of Excellence in Microscopy, and a comprehensive suite of core facilities. Current faculty research areas in the department include: clinical anatomy, evolutionary morphology, and cellular and molecular biomedical sciences (primarily but not limited to the foundational understanding of cancer, cardiovascular, and airway disease).
Successful candidates must have a strong desire to build a career in clinically-oriented anatomical sciences, and will receive training in gross anatomy (as needed) and mentorship in pedagogy and curriculum design. Applicants without human body donor cadaveric dissection experience will be required to observe and participate in a summer, 5-week intensive anatomy course (June 8 – July 9).
