Description
We are seeking motivated researchers with expertise in large-area 2D materials growth for sensor and transistor applications. The focus is on developing wafer-scale 2D materials using CVD, PLD, Sputtering or MOCVD systems for microelectronics and emerging sensor technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize wafer-scale 2D materials, including TMDCs, MXenes, and MOFs, for microelectronics applications.
- Improve material quality by reducing defects and enhancing large-area uniformity and continuity.
- Perform detailed structural, chemical, and electrical characterizations using XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, and PPMS.
- Use cleanroom nanofabrication processes to build 2D-material-based electronic devices.
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments.
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.

About CREST
The Center for Renewable Energy and Storage Technologies (CREST) at KAUST aims to develop renewable energy and storage technologies that help Saudi Arabia achieve its environmental and economic goals. Through strategic partnerships, cutting-edge research, and workforce training, the center will spearhead the prototyping and eventual commercialization of renewable energy and storage solutions that secure the Kingdom’s industrial competitiveness and empower its ambition to expand into new sustainability-centered economic sectors. Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physical Science, or a related field with a focus on 2D materials growth and devices.
- Strong experience in growing 2D materials and fabricating devices. Experience with PLD, CVD, MBE, MOCVD, Sputtering and ALD with be a big surplus.
- Proficiency in advanced characterization techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, microprobe station) and cleanroom nanofabrication processes.
- Proven ability to design experiments, analyze data, and interpret results effectively.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
