East Texas Electric Cooperative (Cooperative) is an electric cooperative headquartered in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Cooperative generates and transmits wholesale electricity ultimately to 10 distribution cooperatives that reach over 340,000 homes and businesses. The Cooperative serves load in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) as well as the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).
Role and Responsibilities
This position will play an integral role in the cooperative’s wholesale member billing process, as well as financial settlement across MISO, ERCOT, and SPP markets.
- Receive, review, and maintain supporting documentation for power costs in coordination with the Accounting and Forecasting teams.
- Reconcile discrepancies between power bills and the general ledger; investigate and resolve variances.
- Coordinate with member cooperatives on reporting requirements and data sharing, including special load customer data.
- Review monthly meter data and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare cost and performance analysis on power costs, generators, and market resources related to Accounting, Asset Management, and Power Supply.
- Perform and maintain power costs analysis for monthly power bills.
- Populate and maintain power billing database in coordination with IT.
- Track and document changes in metering infrastructure (e.g., additions, retirements, replacements, and RTO point changes).
- Manage submission of required meter data to ERCOT, MISO, and SPP.
- Maintain documentation of submission schedules, formats, and protocols for each market.
- Perform variance analysis between submitted, settled, and invoiced volumes; investigate variance causes and prepare resolution reports.
- Coordinate with settlements team to respond to RTO disputes, charge corrections, or resettlements tied to metering issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or other business-related field required.
- 2 years’ experience in power billing, finance or data analysis preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
