Job Title: Power Engineer
Location: Columbia, AL
Core Responsibilities
- Design and oversee electrical power systems (scope, schedules, budgets).
- Prepare single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, and circuitry.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, QA, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical direction to engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Assist with system checkout and startup when needed.
- Communicate effectively across teams and disciplines.
- Make independent decisions with some management consultation.
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
✅ Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong knowledge of engineering design principles (preferably power plant systems).
- Experience in technical direction, design details, drawings, and calculations.
- Ability to schedule and coordinate projects to meet cost and time goals.
- AutoCAD and CAD Overlay experience (plus).
- High initiative; able to plan, organize, and execute work independently.
- Handle large projects at nuclear plants with limited supervision.
- Proficiency in codes, standards, QA, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to build strong relationships with plant staff, design teams, and vendors.
- Familiarity with industry design process (IP-ENG 001) is preferred.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Work Location: In person
