Power System Engineer – Renewable Energy & Controls
ETAP is seeking a Power System Engineer with strong expertise in renewable energy modeling, control systems, microgrids, and inverter-based resources. This role is ideal for someone passionate about developing innovative, next-generation software solutions that support the evolving power grid. As part of ETAP’s Control R&D team, you will help create advanced tools that solve complex challenges associated with renewable energy integration in grid-connected and microgrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
Research, design, develop, and test software applications for modeling, control, and energy management of renewable energy systems
Define technical requirements and specifications for advanced control and power system solutions
Validate and evaluate engineering models and algorithms through simulation and analysis
Perform engineering studies related to renewable power plants, microgrids, grid codes, and plant-level control systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development of cutting-edge control and simulation technologies
Qualifications
2–5 years of relevant industry or academic experience in power systems or renewable energy
Hands-on experience with modeling and analysis of renewable power plants, microgrids, and inverter-based resources
Strong understanding of power system dynamics, control theory, and optimization techniques
Familiarity with grid codes and industry standards, with the ability to translate requirements into technical specifications
Proven ability to conduct research, design, and testing of engineering solutions
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing tasks independently with strong analytical skills
Experience with ETAP or comparable power system simulation software is highly desirable
Basic programming skills in C++, C#, and/or Python
Education
Salary Range: $75,500 - $108,000
This pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation that the position offers, and final compensation can vary within the range depending on work location, job experience, skills, and relevant educational attainment and/or training.
