Power System Engineer - GridOS at GE Vernova
A Power System Engineer is responsible for implementing advanced power system applications, including software configuration & testing, application integration and tuning of power system tools such as Network and Generation Applications, forecasting of Renewables and DER, simulation frameworks, and WAMS.
The role requires application tuning, results analysis, physical progress monitoring, risk identification and mitigation, and database modeling related to electrical characteristics of the network. It is a physically required role in Saudi Arabia.
Responsibilities
- Acts as technical focal point at site for implementation, tuning and maintenance of software for power system applications (RealTime Network Application such as RTNET, Power flow, Study applications, Contingency analysis, DER and Renewable Forecasting, WAMS).
- Ensures quality assurance standards and procedures are followed in all aspects of application tuning.
- Consults with other technical folks to ensure applications are configured according to best design and standards guidelines.
- Performs power system applications tuning, results analysis, defect analysis and correction.
- Plans implementation tasks, monitors progress and costs, evaluates cost to complete for assigned power system applications.
- Provides input to delivery manager on schedules, risks evaluation and mitigation plan in relation to power application tuning.
- Interfaces and develops relationships with customers and partners on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise.
- Delivers power systems applications respecting budget, delay, quality and customer satisfaction on projects.
- Manages customer at site and coordinates efficiently.
- Achieves best application results within the required time.
Qualifications
- Power system engineering or software engineering with good electrotechnical basis.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of Machine Learning algorithms such as regression, ANN, etc.
- Registered with Saudi engineering council.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience in the power system domain.
Preferred Attributes
- Good business and software knowledge of the power systems domain, especially power network modelling, network analysis and Generation control functions.
- Good understanding of WAMS concepts & database operation.
- Business knowledge of the energy domain.
- Programming skills in C++, Java or other related language.
