Description:


As an External Communications Associate, you drive measurable outcomes for an external communications program and ensure the development of long-term strategic plans that match its overarching business goals. You act as a subject-matter specialist within our company external communications ecosystems, which you use to build new external communications processes, procedures, and methods with foresight to anticipate and address future issues. You leverage your proficient knowledge of executive management, stakeholder management, and business acumen to coach executives on PR and external comms, bring the voice of the outside world, and manage our reputation.


Responsibilities include:

- Respond to editorial inquiries and requests for information release. Support the angle of the story and work with the journalist to provide additional information.

- Manage comms programs, driving design of and review presentations, comms, and visuals for marketing and communications events.

- Manage agencies for programs by defining objectives, identifying key tasks or work streams, providing content, and establishing and monitoring budget.

- Support protection of our external reputation among communities it operates, the media, and general public, managing incidents, responses, and reactive issues, including supporting crisis comms.

- Support development of communication strategies to keep the public informed of our programs, products, accomplishments, or point of views. Drive development of high-quality comms plans and materials (e.g., emails, press releases, pitches, marketing copy, announcements, presentations articles, social media content) to publicize and promote communications and public relations programs, facilities, events, or objectives amongst external audiences.

- Represent comms perspective within cross-functional PA and business areas, acting as the voice of the outside world.

- Coordinate and facilitate interviews and review briefing materials to prepare key spokespeople for cross-functional comms, coaching execs on PR and external comms to be effective spokespeople.

- Define measurement criteria to determine whether external communications programs are meeting business expectations and requirements. Track effectiveness of communications campaigns and manage feedback channels, using the information to drive recommendations that improve the external communications strategies.

- Represent a business or product area, acting as a spokesperson.
