Pre-Contract QS to Site Supervision Electrical Engineer

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Pre-Contract QS / Site Supervision Electrical Engineer

Location: Dubai, UAE | Project: High-Rise Tower Development

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic electrical engineer to join our development team in Dubai. This is a dual-phase role, starting with pre-contract quantity surveying and design coordination, then transitioning seamlessly to on-site supervision during construction. The successful candidate will help shape the project’s electrical systems, drive cost optimization, and ensure world-class delivery on a landmark high-rise tower.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract Phase

  • Prepare accurate electrical quantity take-offs and detailed BOQs directly from design drawings.
  • Conduct benchmarking, cost analysis, and value engineering for electrical and ELV systems.
  • Review consultant designs for LV/MV distribution, lighting, ELV, IT/ICT, and life safety systems; provide corrective feedback where required.
  • Resolve coordination issues between electrical, MEP, and structural elements.
  • Lead procurement and tendering of electrical works, materials, and services.

Construction Phase

  • Supervise electrical installations to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and authority standards.
  • Review and approve contractor method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals.
  • Coordinate inspections with consultants and authorities (DEWA, DCD, etc.).
  • Monitor design changes and evaluate their impact on cost and schedule.
  • Ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with overall building services.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with MEP contractors on high-rise projects (25+ floors) in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
  • Strong technical knowledge of LV/MV distribution, ELV systems, fire alarms, BMS, and life-safety controls.
  • Proven experience with UAE authority approvals (Dubai Municipality, DEWA, DCD, Etisalat/DU).
  • Valid UAE driving license.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Suite.
  • Exceptional manual take-off skills (direct from DWG/design renders without reliance on automated QS software).
  • Strong knowledge of UAE vendor market, material pricing, and availability.
  • Expertise in cost estimation, tender evaluation, and contract documentation.
  • Deep understanding of electrical/structural coordination requirements.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in English and Hindi.
  • Experience working across both office-based and site-based roles.
  • Exposure to both QS and design aspects of electrical engineering.

What Sets You Apart

You combine analytical rigor with strong commercial awareness. Detail-oriented yet pragmatic, you are equally comfortable in design review meetings and on active construction sites. Your communication skills allow you to bridge consultants, contractors, and developers, ensuring alignment at every stage. Above all, you take ownership, adapt quickly, and deliver quality outcomes in complex, fast-moving environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per month

Application Question(s):

  • Questionnaire 1 – QS / Pre-Contract Focus

List the high-rise projects (25+ floors) you have worked on in Dubai/Abu Dhabi. What was your role in the pre-contract phase?

Describe your process for performing manual electrical quantity take-offs directly from DWG drawings.

Have you ever challenged consultant designs for LV/MV, ELV, or life-safety systems? Give an example.

Share an experience where you applied value engineering to achieve cost savings without reducing performance.

How familiar are you with vendor pricing and availability in the UAE market? Provide an example where this knowledge benefited your project.

  • Questionnaire 2 – Site Supervision / Construction Focus

Describe your site supervision experience on towers above 25 floors. What were your main responsibilities?

How do you ensure contractor method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals align with project requirements?

Walk us through your experience with authority inspections (DEWA, DCD, Etisalat/DU). Which approvals have you personally secured?

Tell us about a time you managed design changes on site and their impact on cost/schedule.

How do you ensure smooth coordination between electrical and other MEP/structural works during construction?

  • Questionnaire 3 – Dual Role / Integrated Focus

Have you ever worked on a project where you were involved from pre-contract (QS/design) through to construction supervision? Please describe.

Which phase do you find more challenging—pre-contract or construction supervision—and how do you balance both?

Give an example of when your early pre-contract input saved time/money during construction.

How do you handle conflicts between consultant designs and site execution realities?

This role requires both analytical precision (costing, BOQs) and hands-on problem solving (site coordination). How do you demonstrate strength in both areas?
