    Reports To: Building Principal / Director of Special Education
    Employment Term: 200-Day Contract, Full-Time
    Job Summary:
    The Pre-K Special Needs Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to preschool-aged students with identified disabilities at Brookview Elementary School. The teacher will design and implement individualized learning experiences aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), focusing on developmental, social-emotional, communication, cognitive, and motor skill growth. The position requires collaboration with families, related service providers, and school staff to support the whole child in a structured, nurturing, and inclusive early learning environment.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for preschool students with special needs
    • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in early literacy, math readiness, communication, motor skills, and social-emotional development
    • Create a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment tailored to the needs of young learners with disabilities
    • Use evidence-based instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction and early intervention techniques
    • Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate documentation of student progress and services
    • Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other related service providers
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
    • Support behavior development through positive behavior intervention strategies (PBIS/behavior plans as applicable)
    • Supervise and support paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
    • Adapt materials and instructional methods to meet individual student needs
    • Participate in eligibility meetings, IEP meetings, and other special education compliance activities
    • Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education regulations (IDEA)
    • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide activities
    • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
    Qualifications:
    • Valid WV Professional Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement
    • Knowledge of early childhood development and special education instructional strategies
    • Experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities preferred
    • Strong understanding of IEP development and special education compliance requirements
    • Ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and related service providers
    • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
    • Patience, flexibility, and commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners
    Physical Demands:
    • Ability to lift, assist, and support young children as needed
    • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods
    • Ability to supervise students in various learning and play environments
    • Ability to manage materials and equipment used in early childhood instruction
    Salary:
    Salary is based on the Boone County Schools Salary Schedule for Professional Personnel and will be determined according to certification and experience.
