The Pre-Sales Engineer supports the sales team by translating customer needs into well-scoped technical solutions. You’ll lead discovery, design solution architectures, prepare proposals and technical documentation, run demos/POCs, and collaborate with delivery teams to ensure smooth handover and successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with sales to qualify opportunities and understand customer business and technical requirements.
  • Conduct discovery meetings, site surveys (when needed), and requirements workshops.
  • Design end-to-end solutions across relevant areas (e.g., infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, cloud, software, managed services).
  • Prepare technical responses for RFP/RFQ/RFI, including compliance matrices and solution narratives.
  • Build BOMs, sizing, licensing, and cost estimates; coordinate pricing with vendors/partners.
  • Create and deliver presentations, demos, and solution walk-throughs to customers.
  • Manage POCs/pilots: scope, success criteria, test plans, coordination, and results reporting.
  • Produce proposal content: scope of work, assumptions, exclusions, architecture diagrams, implementation approach, timelines, and handover notes.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors/distributors; stay current on product updates and best practices.
  • Support contract and solution clarification during negotiation and ensure a clean handover to project/delivery teams.
  • Contribute to internal enablement: reusable proposal templates, case studies, playbooks, and solution bundles.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT / Computer Engineering / Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years in pre-sales / solution engineering / technical consulting in IT (adjust as needed).
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments and solution design principles.
  • Experience with proposals, RFP responses, and customer-facing presentations.
  • Good Arabic and English communication (written and spoken).

Preferred Experience (choose what fits you)

  • One or more domains:
  • Networking (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi, SD-WAN)
  • Cybersecurity (FW, IAM, SOC, EDR, SIEM)
  • Cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP, M365)
  • Datacenter/Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V, storage, backup/DR)
  • End-user computing / collaboration
  • Managed services / NOC / SLA-based operations
  • Knowledge of Saudi market practices (government/enterprise procurement, compliance).

Skills & Competencies

  • Customer-first problem solving and strong “translate business-to-technical” ability.
  • Proposal writing and documentation discipline.
  • Confident presentation and workshop facilitation.
  • Commercial awareness: scope control, assumptions, risk, and margin sensitivity.
  • Time management and ability to handle multiple opportunities in parallel.

Certifications (nice to have)

  • Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Fortinet (NSE), Palo Alto, Microsoft (Azure/M365), AWS, VMware, ITIL, CompTIA Security+.

KPIs / Success Measures

  • Win-rate influence (supported opportunities won).
  • Proposal/RFP turnaround time and quality (low rework).
  • Accuracy of BOM/sizing/licensing and reduced post-sale scope gaps.
  • Successful POC conversion rate.
  • Customer satisfaction/feedback on workshops and solution clarity.
  • Smooth handover to delivery with minimal clarifications.

Working Conditions

  • Customer meetings and occasional travel within KSA.
  • May require after-hours support during critical demos/POCs.
