Job Description: Pre-Toddler Teacher (18–24 Months)

Position Title: Pre-Toddler Teacher (18–24 Months)
Reports To: Center Director

Position Summary

The Pre-Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 18–24 months. This role includes fostering physical, emotional, cognitive, and social growth through structured activities, play-based learning, and positive guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Management & Care
  • Supervise, engage, and care for children ages 18–24 months at all times.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and DHR Minimum Standards.
  • Implement consistent routines to support children’s sense of security and independence.
  • Curriculum & Instruction
  • Plan and implement daily age-appropriate activities that support early learning domains (language, motor, social-emotional, and cognitive development).
  • Encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving through play-based learning.
  • Foster language development through songs, stories, and interactive conversations.
  • Health & Safety
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitor children for signs of illness and communicate concerns with families and administration.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs in a respectful and nurturing manner.
  • Family & Communication
  • Build positive, professional relationships with families by providing daily updates on children’s progress, routines, and milestones.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, special events, and family engagement activities.
  • Professional Responsibilities
  • Complete all required training hours, including 11 Health & Safety training hours and 12 additional professional development hours annually.
  • Maintain current CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Adhere to all center policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with co-teachers and staff to support the overall program.

Qualifications

  • Must meet state licensing requirements for Pre-Toddler Teachers.
  • Minimum of 3 professional references.
  • Current TB test/Medical form on file.
  • Experience working with children ages 18–24 months preferred.
  • Strong communication, patience, and nurturing skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Work Location: In person
