Med School Insiders is looking for experienced professionals to join us as Independent Premed College Advisors. In this capacity, you will utilize your expertise to mentor current undergraduate students, helping them strategically navigate the premed path and build a competitive profile for future medical school applications.
This is a flexible consulting engagement. As an independent professional, you maintain the autonomy to select student engagements and manage your own methodology for delivering guidance within our established service framework.
Scope of Engagement
As a consultant, your services will focus on the following key areas:
- Strategic Extracurricular Planning: Advising students on securing high-impact research, clinical experiences, and leadership roles that align with medical school expectations.
- Academic Roadmapping: Providing expertise on major selection, prerequisite course scheduling, and long-term timelines for the medical school admissions cycle.
- Student Mentorship & Narrative Building: Supporting students in overcoming undergraduate challenges, establishing productive habits, and developing a cohesive personal narrative.
- Admissions Readiness: Offering professional feedback on early-stage personal statements and activity logs to evaluate a student's current level of competitiveness.
- Collaborative Development: Sharing subject-matter expertise to help refine internal resources and best practices for student support.
All services are delivered independently using your professional judgment, ensuring MSI program guidelines are met to maintain a high standard for our students.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: A background in premed or college advising, academic coaching, tutoring, or general higher-education support services.
- Subject Matter Expertise: A robust understanding of the U.S. premed trajectory, including MCAT planning, necessary coursework, and extracurricular benchmarks.
- Key Skillsets:
- Strong interpersonal and mentorship abilities.
- Clear, professional communication.
- Excellent organizational judgment and reliability.
- Capacity to manage tasks independently without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Background in pre-health advising or university admissions.
- Direct experience with competitive academic tracks or BS/MD programs.
- Previous experience in leadership, teaching, or formal coaching roles.
