The cook is responsible for the safe, efficient, consistent, and accurate production of food in the central kitchen.
- Job Duties:
- The Cook position reports directly to the Kitchen Manager
- Use of safe and sanitary practices at all times.
- Arrive to work on time, in proper uniform.
- Adhere to the policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Complete checklist of daily tasks
- Consistently follow policies on safety, sanitation, and cleanliness:
- Ensure the safe temperature of foods (outside of the danger zone) of foods at all times.
- Proper hygiene and handwashing at all times.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area by properly using cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
- Removing of trash and waste from the kitchen area.
- Keeping the floors free of debris and clutter to avoid slips and trips.
- Cleaning and mopping the kitchen area.
- Completion of the daily cleaning checklist.
- Uphold a clean and sanitary work area including work surfaces, kitchen equipment, utensils, and food storage areas. Follows a regular cleaning schedule.
- Quality Control
- Follows standardized recipes and portion measurement techniques to ensure regulatory standards are met and an accurate amount of food is produced for each batch.
- Applies principles of batch cooking to ensure optimum food quality and preparation of correct amounts of food required for production needs.
- Consistent and accurately records amounts of food prepared and leftover/waste items.
- Follows food safety guidelines regarding time and temperatures.
- Elevates concerns regarding food quality or waste to the Kitchen Manager.
- Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 40-50lbs repeatedly throughout the work day.
- Work at a pace to keep processes efficient and running in a timely manner while maintaining quality standards of operation.
- Must be able to handle equipment safely according to proper instructions and use of equipment.
- Use proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
