Mobile Equipment Operator
Position Purpose:
Complying with federal and state regulations and company safety standards while efficiently operating multiple pieces of heavy machinery on a surface mining operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates equipment by moving levers, or steering-wheel and depressing pedals or operating other controls to stop, start, maintain proper speed, direction and complete task as required.
- - perform pre-operational checks of equipment that include: walk around visual inspection, check fluid levels, safety equipment, tires, steering, brakes, etc.
- Mounts and dismounts equipment by climbing or descending the boarding ladder or steps.
- Assist mechanic with repairs and maintenance.
- Clean equipment as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Position Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience and knowledge operating at least 3 of the following pieces of mobile equipment:
- Dozer
- Loader
- Grader
- Ability to recognize potential problems with equipment. Know the lubrication and service requirements of the equipment being operated, and applicable rules and regulations.

- Know the Safe Job Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures for the equipment being operated, and applicable rules and regulations.
- Ability to pass an equipment test on the above pieces of equipment.
Education and/or Training:
- WV Surface Miner Certification
Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to lift 21-50 pounds occasionally, frequently up to 25 pounds, up to 10 pounds constantly.
