Preschool Assistant Teacher

Position Overview

As an Assistant Teacher, you will support the Lead Teacher in nurturing the growth and development of our children. You’ll help create a secure, playful, and deeply engaging environment where children explore, discover, and become capable little learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher to implement engaging, developmentally-appropriate lesson plans aligned with our blended curriculum.
  • Foster a safe, clean, and inviting classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration and autonomy.
  • Support children in daily routines—serving themselves, tidying up, dressing, and other practical life skills.
  • Encourage social-emotional growth by modeling kindness, patience, and independence.
  • Assist in transitions between activities, ensuring continuity and comfort.
  • Observe and document children’s interests and development; communicate progress to families as directed.
  • Support enrichment activities such as outdoor play, art, music, yoga, and nature exploration.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and contribute to our community’s collaborative spirit.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children—preferably in early childhood or preschool settings.
  • Passion for nurturing curiosity, independence, and respect for nature.
  • High energy, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; respect for colleagues, families, and diverse perspectives.
  • Physical ability to engage actively—kneeling, lifting, bending, and playing alongside energetic toddlers.
