Executive Director (part-time/exempt)
Position summary
The Director provides overall leadership and daily management of Canyon Creek Preschool, a Christian, licensed early childhood program. The Director ensures a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment that supports children’s spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development while complying with all applicable laws, regulations, board policies. Under the direction of the board, co-develops and promotes the vision, mission and strategic direction of the preschool.
Core Responsibilities:
Operational leadership
- Ensure operational excellence for Canyon Creek Preschool.
- Ensure implementation of developmentally appropriate, faith-integrated curriculum for all ages.
- Monitor classroom environments, learning materials, and schedules for quality and safety.
- Ensure required child and program records in accordance with licensing standards.
- Participate in strategic planning, policy development, and program improvement efforts with the board.
Financial and administrative management
- Create and manage the preschool budget aligned with the strategic plan, and AED input as applicable.
- Keep the board up to date on all financial matters (i.e. budget, forecasting and quarterly reports)
- Ensure accuracy by providing oversight of tuition billing, payments, and related financial records.
- Approve purchases and steward resources responsibly.
Compliance, health, and safety
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state childcare licensing regulations and inspections.
- Serve as primary contact with licensing representatives.
- Implement and monitor health, safety, supervision, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain required documentation related to incidents, injuries, and required reporting.
- Protect confidentiality of children, families, and staff in accordance with law and policy.
Staff leadership
- Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate Assistant Directors
- Oversight the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, supervising and evaluating staff hired by AEDs.
- Final decision in all recommended discipline or terminations.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities for AEDs and other staff as requested.
- Ensure staff compliance with all policies, procedures, training requirements, and state regulations.
Family, community and church relations
- Serve as the primary contact for parents addressing concerns around emergency situations.
- Promote a positive, welcoming, and Christian environment for children and families.
- Plan and support parent communication and engagement activities in partnership with AEDs.
- Represent the preschool to the broader community, church, and prospective parents, in a professional manner
- Collaborate with church staff to coordinate use of spaces, shared resources, and joint events.
- Provide regular program updates to the preschool board and/or church leadership.

Physical duties
- Regularly move throughout the facility, including classrooms, playgrounds, and office areas.
- Frequently lift, carry, or support children and materials typically ranging from 10 to 50 pounds; occasionally more, as reasonably required for child safety.
- Quickly respond to emergencies, including bending, reaching, and moving at a pace necessary to ensure safety.
- Work within the noise and activity level typical of a preschool environment.
- Meet applicable health and safety requirements (such as immunizations, background checks, and required trainings), as required by law and policy.
Minimum qualifications
- At least 21 years of age
- Holds Director Certification as required by the Texas Health and Human Services
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory responsibilities in a childcare facility or equivalent
- Maintain CPR and First Aid certification
- Demonstrated ability to use basic computer and administrative systems (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets, and center management and payroll software).
Preferred qualifications
- Degree or credential in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or a related field.
- Prior experience as a preschool director, assistant director, or program lead in a licensed early childhood program.
- Experience with Procare or similar childcare management/financial software.
- Experience working in or with a church-based or faith-based preschool or children’s ministry.
Pay: $40,000.00 per year
