We are looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher to lead one of our 3-4 year-old classrooms.
Job Duties
A Lead Teacher's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Build a close, caring, respectful relationship with each child and each child’s family.
- Communicate with parents, caregiver’s and/or guardians daily.
- Design and maintain a classroom environment that is engaging and appropriate for the children, rotating materials as needed to maintain interest
- Knowledge using the Creative Curriculum and use it to plan and implement lessons and activities that are developmentally appropriate
- Use ICCC approved Christian education curriculum and include daily devotion and prayers in the daily schedule
- Complete and record weekly observations of each children, recording their progress in Teaching Strategies Gold.
- Requires that one be able to move and carry furniture, lift, carry and manipulate up to 30 lbs
- Provide for the health and ensure the safety of young children, by knowing the whereabouts of children at all times.
- Develop a daily routine that meets the individual child’s need for rest, nutrition, quiet and active play, both indoors and outdoors through each day.
- Requires that one be able to play comfortably sitting on the floor or in child-size chairs, holding a child on one’s lap, and playing outdoors for long lengths of time in both hot and cold weather.
- Plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate activities throughout each day that promote the physical, social, emotional, language and intellectual development of young children.
- Confer regularly with all parents, caregivers or guardians to assess each child’s needs and evaluate his/her progress.
- Make necessary adaptations and accommodations in the environment and daily routine to best meet the needs of children with special needs.
- Evaluate children’s progress regularly with co-teachers and caregivers in the classroom, consult with Director or Assistant Director as needed.
- Offer an opportunity for a Family-Teacher conference a twice a year
- Participate in Immanuel Christian Children’s Center special events and activities as scheduled.
- Maintain confidentiality of all families and children, except in cases where mandated by law to violate.
- Promote a positive and friendly atmosphere to all children and their families, caregivers or guardians. (i.e. extend warm welcomes, introducing yourself, using eye contact, addressing people by their names without showing favoritism/dislike to child, co-worker, parent, caregiver or guardian); seek to understand and accept all families and their individual life styles, parenting choices and situations
- Be knowledgeable of and carry out Immanuel Christian Children’s Center policies and goals.
- Train, mentor and supervise students, volunteers and caregivers working in the classroom with children, assisting them in setting goals for themselves.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have one of the following:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate
- Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Prefer at least one year of experience in a child care setting
- Must be eighteen years of age or older
- Must be mentally, physically, and emotionally able to provide adequate care and education for young children
- Must have a warm and friendly personality
- Must be able to relate well to children
- Must be willing to fulfill the responsibilities of the job in accordance with the program philosophy of Immanuel Christian Children’s Center
- Must pass Child Abuse & Neglect and Criminal History Background Checks
- Must be First Aid and CPR trained (ICCC will provide in-house training opportunities to meet this requirement)
The Immanuel Christian Children Center is open 6:30am to 6pm Monday - Friday. This position would have a work schedule during that time working 40 hours per week with benefits. Benefits include Health insurance, Vision insurance, Dental, Retirement, holiday pay, and paid vacation/sick time.'
