Job Terms

$25 to $28 per hour, or a better offer commensurate with experience (opportunity to become a salaried employee after a satisfactory 3-month probationary period). To be considered, educators should have

  • Completion of / willingness to complete Livescan
  • Provide proof of medical clearance
  • Provide 3 Professional References
  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 12-semester units of Early Childhood Education credits
  • Valid working status in the U.S. (Work visa sponsorship may be possible.)
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility
  • Fluency in writing, speaking, and communicating in Mandarin and English
  • Our ideal educator will collaborate effectively with students and families, actively participate in school events and activities, and consistently bring their best self to enrich the school community

Ideal Educator Attributes

  • A background in Mandarin language, education, linguistics, or a related field- advanced degrees are a plus
  • Experience teaching Mandarin to non-native speakers
  • Comfort with developing lesson plans and creating engaging, culturally rich classroom experiences
  • Familiarity with using technology and digital tools to support learning
  • A genuine appreciation for Mandarin culture and a desire to share it with students
  • Friendly, organized, and a good communicator- someone who enjoys working with others and supporting students' growth
  • A flexible and open-minded attitude and a passion for helping learners explore a new language

Essential Responsibilities

A Preschool Mandarin Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging Mandarin lessons that develop students' listening and speaking skills, thereby enhancing their cognitive development when learning a second language by boosting students' memory, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The teacher will create a supportive and immersive classroom environment, incorporating songs, games, stories, and cultural activities to foster language acquisition and cultural awareness. The teacher monitors student progress through regular assessments and provides constructive feedback to support their learning. A Preschool Mandarin Teacher's primary role is to lay the academic and social foundations for young learners, paving the way for their educational evolution.

Role Description

  • Primarily engage in the joy of imparting knowledge to Preschool students by teaching Mandarin.
  • Develop lesson plans based on curriculum standards
  • Deliver engaging lessons using various teaching methods
  • Adapt instruction to meet the needs of all learners
  • Assess student progress through projects and observations
  • Maintain accurate records of student development
  • Enforce classroom rules and behavior expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff
  • Participate in training, workshops, and faculty meetings
  • Stay current with educational best practices and technologies
  • Partake in professional development and teacher evaluation processes
  • Participate in school field trips, student activities, and Parents’ Night
  • Establish high standards and goals for all students
  • Integrate SEL concepts into daily classroom activities and academics
  • Model positive behavior by demonstrating empathy, active listening, and respectful communication
  • Reinforce growth mindset and emotional regulation strategies
  • Facilitate classroom community by creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
  • Guide students through peer conflicts using restorative practices
  • Promote Project-Based Learning (PBL) by planning, guiding, and assessing these projects in a way that supports young learners' developmental needs
  • Plan and design age-appropriate PBL projects by developing driving questions that encourage curiosity and critical thinking
