Preschool Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Preschool Teacher supports the preschool’s mission, philosophy, goals and objectives. Safely supervises active 2-5 year old children. Must be have the ability to collaborate with teachers, assistants, children and parents.

The position is available as either full-time or part-time—20-40 hours per week.

The position will start as soon as possible.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 12 units of Early Childhood Education core courses.
• A minimum of 1 year teaching experience in an early childhood center.
• Prefer a degree in ECE or related field.
• Experience working with children with special needs is a plus.
• Familiar with the Outdoor Classroom Project.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must pass the Department of Justice fingerprint process.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and tuberculosis clearance.
• Show verification for the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) and the Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (DTaP) vaccinations and can show proof of having the COVID-19 vaccination.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

• Hold or obtain a valid Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR card and update as required. (Fees will be paid for by the program--this can be done once employed)
• Hold a valid California Driver’s License.
• Must obtain a Mandated Reporter Training Certificate and Pesticide Management Training Certificate by completing the online courses provided by the program.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of Department of Social Services Community Care Title 22 Licensing Requirements.
• Familiar with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation Standards.
• Familiar with the California Department of Education’s Early Learning Standards and Curriculum Framework.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Collaborate with a variety of school personnel such as the Preschool Director, Assistant Director, Special Education Teacher, Classroom Instructional Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Preschool Specialists, School Nurses, Adaptive PE Specialists, Program Coordinators, School Psychologist, and the Behavior Specialist.
• Ensure that the educational curriculum is developmentally appropriate and focused on the needs of the individual child.
• Maintain a safe environment by helping to keep the classroom space and outdoor areas neat and organized.
• Responsible for light housekeeping tasks.
• Attend staff meetings, conferences and staff development as assigned.

SALARY RANGE:

Salary depends on experience and education. $21-$25 per hour.
