Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Teach our future leaders! Develop and nurture young children by building relationships with families through: showing children love and gentle interactions; applying careful supervision; keeping children safe; planning and implementing an inspiring and educational preschool program; creating a beautiful classroom using art, natural items and Reggio-Emilia inspired approaches; communicating with parents directly; using a smartphone or tablet app for documenting children's daily information.

  • (1) AM FLOATER & PM PRESCHOOL TEACHER for 4 & 5 yr olds ($14-$17 per hour, Full-time, year-round, Monday-Friday 9:00-6:00 year-round). NC Child Care Credential required. Job starts asap.
  • (2) TODDLER TEACHER for ages 1-2 ($15-$20 per hour, Full-time, 9 am - 6pm, year-round). NC Child Care Credential required. HS Diploma required. Job starts asap.
  • (3) SUBSTITUTE PRESCHOOL TEACHER for ages 0-5 ($14-$16 per hour, year-round, works on a call-in basis). HS Diploma required. Job starts asap.
  • (4) OFFICE ASSISTANT ($14 -$16 per hour, Part-time, year-round). Some college and child care center experience is preferred. Job starts ASAP.

Education and Experience: Assistant Teachers must have completed the NC Child Care Credential. Completion of an Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood/B-K OR a closely related field is preferred for Lead Teachers. Minimum of 1 year of recent experience working in a school or licensed child care center is required. High School Diploma is required for all positions.

Key Duties:

* Be ACTIVE with young children. Stimulates emotional, intellectual, and social growth of students by developing and directing educational activities tailored to children ages Birth-5; supervising children carefully.

* Provides safe environment by maintaining an orderly, clean, and appealing classroom; eliminating or removing known safety hazards; complying with child care rules.

* Encourages students' participation by providing open-ended, interactive activities.

* Supports students to learn concepts and collects work samples for portfolios.

* Informs parents of curriculum by preparing and submitting lesson plans; posting schedules and holding parent-teacher conferences.

* Keeps parents informed by posting parent information in the classroom; communicating frequently; sharing child's progress and needs using modern technologies.

* Encourages development of student self-control by utilizing Conscious Discipline classroom management and modeling techniques.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

* Enhances center reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

We are looking for people who are truly passionate about early childhood education and seeking a long-term position.

Job Type: Full-time, year-round.

Compensation: $14.00 to $20.00 /hour; varies according to completed education level and experience; higher pay if candidate meets Mentor Teacher Requirements.

$365.00 signing bonus available for exceptionally trained candidate or immediate start. Examples: Extensive Reggio or Te Whariki training, Conscious Discipline certification, Early Childhood Environment Scale training to reliability, multiple years of successful lead teaching.
