Preschool Teacher

We are seeking an Energentic, Passionate, Loving Teacher to join our team at Wooden Fish Preschool 1,2, 3, 4, & 5! All sites are play-based and located in SE Portland minutes away from one another. If you are passionate about providing exceptional care to children while fostering each child’s intellectual, social, physical, and moral development in a safe and nurturing environment, we may be the place for you!

We are seeking an individual with a flexible schedule! This means willing and able to work at any of our five locations and have flexible availability Monday-Friday from 7am-5pm. We are looking for very OPEN AVAILABILITY!

The right candidate for this position would be a believer in play and child-directed learning. They would actively practice respectful communication toward children, trust in children’s natural development, and be willing to work as a team alongside other teachers. Additionally, this person would be able to support children through conflict resolution and be comfortable with big emotions as a natural part of early childhood development.

Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a great sense of humor are important, There is no shortage of laughter when it comes to teaching little humans!

Program hours and shifts range between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday-Friday!

Job duties include: Supervising children, setting up and maintaining play spaces, supporting conflict resolution, social-emotional support, observation and assessment, food preparation, diaper changes/ potty training support, cleaning, communicating with families, and much more!

Must be able to meet physical demands: requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and or pulling up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking may be required. Stooping, squatting, bending, balancing, reaching, and use of hands may occur throughout the workday. Lifting and carrying children ages 3 months to 6 years may also occur.
Must be capable of working outdoors for 1-2 hour blocks of time in all seasons.
