Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Toddler Classroom Teacher to independently lead our 2-year-old classroom. The right candidate is a confident, self-directed educator who deeply understands emergent, play-based learning and can translate that philosophy into a rich, responsive classroom environment—with minimal supervisory oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan and manage your classroom—daily routines, environment, behavior guidance, and family communication—with minimal oversight
- Develop and lead an emergent, play-based curriculum that follows children’s interests and supports whole-child development
- Observe and document children’s growth to inform planning and share progress with families
- Maintain compliance with Title 22 licensing regulations and Pillar Kids policies
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of professional childcare or early childhood education experience, preferably with toddlers (ages 2–3)
- Minimum 12 ECE units completed, including at least one Infant & Toddler course
- Demonstrated expertise in classroom management and child-led curriculum development for toddlers
- Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for engaging families and colleagues
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
- Must pass FBI and DOJ background checks
- Ability to commute to Lafayette, CA
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with emergent curriculum frameworks such as Reggio Emilia, RIE, or project-based learning
- Experience with Brightwheel or similar childcare management platforms
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Pay: $25.98 - $28.00 per hour
