Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough medical history assessments and physical examinations to evaluate patient health status.
- Develop personalized care plans that incorporate preventive measures, health education, and treatment strategies aligned with best practices and clinical guidelines.
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses by diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications, and ordering appropriate diagnostic tests such as laboratory work, medical imaging, or EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
- Utilize advanced EHR systems like Epic to document patient encounters accurately, track health progress, and facilitate seamless communication with multidisciplinary teams.
- Perform procedures including suturing, basic wound care, and other minor outpatient interventions as needed.
- Coordinate with specialists in fields such as psychiatry, endocrinology, cardiology, dermatology, pulmonology, and others to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide health coaching and education to empower patients in managing their health conditions effectively.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the highest standards of patient confidentiality and safety.
- Engage in discharge planning for hospitalized patients and follow-up care for outpatient services to promote continuity of care.
- Support triage efforts in urgent care or outpatient settings to prioritize patient needs efficiently.
- Stay current with medical advancements by participating in ongoing training related to medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding, infection control protocols, and other relevant areas.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO or PA or NP) from an accredited institution with valid licensure to practice medicine in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in primary care settings such as outpatient clinics or hospital medicine environments.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, diagnostic radiology procedures including CT scans and nuclear medicine imaging.
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms; experience with medical records management is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform clinical procedures including suturing and wound care confidently.
- Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care workflows along with hospital experience preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are advantageous.
- Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers or critical care units is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills paired with compassionate patient service orientation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams including nursing staff, specialists, radiologists, and allied health professionals. Pay: $43,725.23 - $52,658.34 per year
