Primary Grade - Computer Teacher

Position Overview

The Computer Teacher for Grades 1–4 will be responsible for introducing students to the basics of computer literacy, digital skills, and responsible technology use. The role includes designing engaging lessons, fostering curiosity in technology, and ensuring that students gain a strong foundation in computing appropriate to their age and grade level. In addition, the teacher will be responsible for the proper management and upkeep of the computer lab.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

• Plan, prepare, and deliver computer lessons in line with the school’s curriculum framework.
• Introduce students to fundamental computer concepts such as hardware, software, typing, and basic coding (according to curriculum).
• Teach digital skills including file management, safe internet use, and introduction to educational applications.
• Encourage activity-based, interactive learning through practical sessions in the computer lab.

2. Student Development

• Create a positive and safe learning environment that builds students’ confidence in using technology.
• Encourage curiosity and creativity in digital projects.
• Support individual learning needs by providing extra help where required.
• Foster responsible and ethical use of technology among young learners.

3. Computer Lab & Resource Management

• Oversee the daily functioning of the computer lab to ensure a safe, disciplined, and productive learning environment.
• Ensure that all systems, devices, and equipment are in good working condition.
• Monitor and regulate student usage of devices and the internet to ensure safety and compliance with school policies.
• Maintain inventory of lab equipment, peripherals, and supplies.
• Report technical issues promptly and coordinate with the IT team for timely maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ensure proper shutdown, security, and cleanliness of the lab after each session.

4. Collaboration & Professional Growth

• Coordinate with home teachers and subject specialists for integrated lesson planning (e.g., using computers for science, math, or arts projects).
• Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development workshops.
• Stay updated on new educational technologies and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or Education with specialization in Computer Studies (degree in CS/SE preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience (preferably in primary/elementary classes).
• Experience managing and operating a computer lab is required.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is preferred.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Knowledge of child-friendly computer applications and teaching tools.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs35,000.00 - Rs45,000.00 per month
