Role Summary:

An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced and visionary Principal Architect to lead and grow a dynamic architecture studio in Orlando, FL. This full-time, on-site leadership role offers the chance to shape high-impact projects in the commercial, retail, and mixed-use development sectors. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, seasoned architect, and inspiring leader who thrives on building successful teams, strengthening client relationships, and driving innovation in the built environment.

Duties:

Studio Leadership & Strategic Growth

  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and vision for the Orlando office.

  • Spearhead efforts to expand the studio’s presence in the region, with the goal of doubling developer/retail revenue within two years and securing multiple large-scale projects.

  • Oversee day-to-day studio operations, including project pipeline, staffing, financials, and quality assurance.

  • Champion a culture of collaboration, design excellence, and continuous improvement.

Client Development & Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships across commercial, retail, and mixed-use sectors.

  • Partner with business development and technical teams to pursue new opportunities and lead winning project pursuits.

  • Represent the firm’s values and capabilities in industry events and public-facing engagements.

Team Building & Mentorship

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing architectural team.

  • Provide guidance on professional growth, technical execution, and client management.

  • Ensure the successful integration of new team members and uphold a culture of inclusion and respect.

Project & Business Oversight

  • Monitor studio profitability, risk management, project schedules, and resource allocation.

  • Ensure all work adheres to quality standards, contractual obligations, and budget parameters.

  • Implement corporate policies and lead efforts in project planning, marketing, public relations, and staff development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (required); Master’s degree in Architecture or Business (preferred)

  • Registered Architect (RA) in any U.S. state (Florida license not required)

  • 15+ years of progressive architectural experience, with a minimum of 10 years leading complex projects

  • Proven track record in business development, client engagement, and winning project pursuits

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities

  • Experience overseeing studio performance, staffing, and profitability

Desired Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of commercial, retail, and mixed-use project types

  • Experience in growing or launching a studio or regional office

  • Familiarity with financial planning, marketing strategies, and operational leadership in a design environment

  • Experience working within cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams

  • Training or interest in leadership development, mentoring, and coaching
