Inviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant, Storage SME
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining storage and backup infrastructure within our data center environment. This role involves ensuring the availability, performance, and security of storage and backup services to meet the needs of our clients and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Manage and administer storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and object storage solutions.
Design, implement, and maintain backup and recovery solutions for critical data and systems.
Monitor storage and backup performance metrics, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
Provide L2/L3 support for storage and backup-related incidents and service requests escalated from L1 support teams.
Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices for storage and backup environments to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain comprehensive documentation, including configuration guides, operational procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Generate reports on storage and backup performance, capacity, and health metrics.
Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT teams to ensure integrated and efficient storage and backup operations.
Manage changes to storage and backup environments through rigorous testing, coordination, and documentation to minimize risks and disruptions.
Coordinate with storage and backup vendors and service providers to resolve escalated issues and optimize storage and backup services.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant professional training are a plus.
Good experience in managing and supporting storage and backup infrastructure within a large enterprise environment.
Strong understanding of storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and object storage solutions (e.g., EMC, NetApp, Dell EMC Isilon).
Experience with backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Veeam).
Proficiency in configuring and managing storage arrays and backup software.
Familiarity with disaster recovery principles and practices.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and management tasks related to storage and backup.
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
Certification in storage and backup technologies (e.g., EMC Proven Professional, NetApp Certified Data Administrator).
Experience with cloud storage and backup solutions.
Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
