Activity:
Design Engineering
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Lead development of permanent design modifications, including business cases and cost benefit analyses, to plant systems, components, and structures to maintain and improve plant reliability and safety.
- Liaise with the design change committee to keep modifications prioritized and well communicated.
- Provide support in the management of functional locations and equipment master database to ensure accurate plant records for safety and maintainability.
- Provide support to the configuration management process and coach more junior engineers on the value of the process to keep the plant in configuration control.
- Support the unit start-up test, Power Ascension Test (PAT), to identify any possible engineering issues.
- Validate engineering documents and data to maintain accurate and relevant design engineering records.
- Manage the creation of consolidated equipment and process lists, such as set points and breakers, to keep it current and support additional analysis as required.
- Provide advanced technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering, and other plant or central organizations as required to solve difficult technical issues
- Identify and direct design engineering work to resolve issues via the corrective action and work management processes to support safe and reliable operation.
- Develop, review, and validate engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures to provide effective design modification.
- Provide support in the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) operational peer reviews to align to industrial best practices.
- Identify potential cyber-security items to the Cyber-Security Action team within I&C Design Engineering to ensure the items' proper evaluation.
- Lead Design seismic qualification reviews and specification development to ensure consistency with seismic program requirements.
- Lead the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) change impact assessment to ensure that design changes are consistent with the requirements of the FSAR.
- Lead the Structural Monitoring Program performed by the Civil Design Engineering section to ensure that current conditions can be well understood to support long-term operation and maintenance decisions (For Civil Design Only).
- Lead technical reviews and analysis of proposed software configuration management change items to track and control versions of application programs used for BNPP operation, design and analysis(For I&C Design Only).
Staff Training and Qualification
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Provide feedback on training program effectiveness using operator performance evaluation to enhance the quality of the training and qualification program.
- Participate in training to equip necessary technical knowledge and skills.
Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Support outage and the ERO, as assigned, to ensure safe, reliable and continued operations; this may require shift work/off hours support.
