RESPONSIBILITIES:
ThePrincipal Signal Integrity Engineer will serve as a technical leader within the high speed copper based I/O cable assembly design team. This role will make a strategic engineering impact across advanced datacenter, cloud, 5G, storage, and enterprise I/O applications involving digital communication technologies up to 224 Gbps per lane.
-
Design, simulation, characterization, and application of high speed electrical cable assemblies
-
Provide SI technical leadership, own major engineering projects, and mentor new SI hires
-
Work regularly in the west coast office for lab measurements, validation, and debugging. Support in setting up the local SI lab including identifying and purchasing required equipment
-
Component development and customer support during new product introduction
-
Share knowledge and pursue continuous improvement in methods and workflows
-
Collaborate with multi disciplinary teams in the development of next generation high speed I/O interconnect products
-
Provide solutions to customers across many sectors with their high speed data transmission needs, identifying and resolving signal integrity issues
-
Engage directly with customers to debug system level SI issues and answer high level technical questions
-
Own project execution by ensuring all tasks are completed and by driving progress across functions, not by delegating responsibility upward
-
Support Sales and Applications Engineers to develop strategies for product break in at existing and new accounts based on SI and electrical engineering expertise
-
Support global factories for production ramp up, including methods, build experiments, measurement development, and establishing test limits
-
Travel 10 to 20 percent, primarily to Nashua to coordinate with the design team. Occasional customer visits as engineering support but not as the primary customer contact

Mentor SI engineers and influence cross functional engineering processes and standards
QUALIFICATIONS
-
BS in Electrical Engineering. MS or PhD strongly preferred
-
Deep understanding of electromagnetic principles for digital signal integrity
-
Experience with SI and EM simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave
-
Experience with SI measurements and debugging using TDR, VNA, pattern generators, error detectors, and similar equipment
-
Hands on experience with frequency domain and time domain component and circuit characterization including understanding of test and calibration techniques
-
Experience in component design and application of high speed cables or connectors into communications equipment is a plus
-
Experience with MATLAB, ADS, and HSPICE is a plus
-
Proven track record of leading SI development for advanced cable or connector products
-
Ability to drive architecture, influence material and process selection, and provide senior level technical direction across programs
-
Strong ability to independently lead SI investigations, manage multi site collaboration, and support lab based measurement and debug activities
